So the paranoia is still thick, I don’t sleep all that awesome (neither does Tara) and I’m constantly thinking about the toolbags that broke in.
We get the alarm system installed Tuesday morning, and I tell ya what, it made me feel so much better. There was no price I wouldn’t pay for the feeling of knowing someone is looking out for us (for a monthly fee). Tara is at work and I’m trying to read all about the new system. Around 5ish there is a knock on the door, thinking it’s Tara, I yell “No one’s home!”, to which I get a response of “Hello is Tara home?”. Being I was waiting for her, I was kinda shocked not to hear her voice. I look out the window and there is a short Asian woman standing on our doorstep. I open the door and she asks if Tara is home. I introduce myself and tell her that she’s on her way home from work. I look puzzled, the woman equally puzzled. I then glance to her shoulder and she’s hold Tara’s stolen bag!!! Without any warning I point directly at it and yell, now she looks really puzzled. She then says that she found a bag and laptop in an alley way down by their house. I tell her about the break in and that we had lost exactly that. She then starts apologizing because she had to open the laptop and look at some files to find out that it was ours. Tara had some of her tax info saved on a file on the desktop, with her name and address. I told her not to worry about it as it’s awesome that it was returned. She continued to feel bad about having looked through our personal info, I could care less because it means that the little shits that did this didn’t get a damn thing out of the robbery. It does mean however that we’re only down a TV and a window, they are down two bikes and now are fingerprinted in the system. I thank her again and again, she leaves, I bust out the laptop and look through the bag. They left her Zune in there too (no jokes please)!!
I just can’t believe that someone would break in, take a bunch of crap, then leave it somewhere for no profit. Now I’m really worried about identity theft, but I’ve signed up for Lifelock, which let’s me put it out of my mind for the time being.
