New Job, New Fiancé, New Post
So it’s been a while since I had news worth blogging about. Kind of exciting to not just randomly put crap on the site. Tara and I are now engaged. Also, I’m starting a new job at ING Direct. Oddly enough, I got my verbal offer the morning of April 4th and proposed that night. Just coincidence that I pack two life changing things in the same day.
Fast forward to today. I’m starting my new gig tomorrow and wedding planning is in full swing. I’m not sure which I should be more excited about. My second job out if college and first change in 6.5 years or the fact that I’m engaged. My last day at Razorfish was rather emotional. If you told me 6 years ago that I’d be living in Seattle, engaged, and starting a new job at an awesome company I would’ve laughed in your face. Going over all the good times with Mark and T was great. Honestly, making the job change is the best thing that could’ve happened. Not to take away from the engagement, but for the first time in a very long time I feel like I can stretch. I don’t have to worry about 6 years of products following me around. I can focus on nailing shit to the wall and moving forward. There are a ton of Arduino projects I want to work on and I feel like pushing forward learning that.
I feel like I’m back.
GTF out of my way.
Its good to be back.
Secure deployments
Let’s say you have 50 machines. You need to deploy a site to all of those machines, but you can’t remotely access any of them.
Scalability when you reach hardware limits
So what happens when you start hitting hardware limits?
Be it bandwidth, harddrive speed, bus speed, etc.
You can add more hardware, then load balance it, but what if that doesn’t help? Is your code optimized? What if money is factor?
I never said I’d answer my own posts, I just need a place to think.
New Idea for the Blog
Probably the most fun I have from day to day is talking to people about issues they run into with technology. While some people deal with day to day issues, they are new to me when I discover them. I enjoy working on new problems and puzzles. I may start writing (anonymously) about some of the problems I encounter. The good news is 3 people read my blog, so its not like any will know what I’m talking about.
I’ll tag them as “thoughts”
New WordPress app
They just released an update for the WordPress app on the iPhone. I had to delete and reinstall but it seems good to go now. Hopefully no more issues!!
Whoa, that image is WAY too big.
Anyone know of a way to have the page dynamically resize WordPress sidebars in order to fit this?
Oh well, it will look like crap until it moves off my page.
